because without it I would see nothing at all. Lighting is an essential element of design as it affects how objects and space are perceived. Lighting has been shown to increase productivity, guide circulation, define space, and create a mood. Proper lighting and lamp types help render colors appropriately and also create visual interest that can help emphasize and/or de-emphasize design elements.

Below are some examples of how lighting enhances the environment. Removing the light from the images would be create a dramatic change in mood and in some cases there would be nothing spectacular about the space itself without it.
