kitchen island

The detailing on this kitchen island is pretty divine. I wouldn't necessarily choose this granite but I like it. Designed by Kanner Architects found at Design-Milk.

polaroid flower vase

Spotted over at Core77 is this amazing succulent/flower vase that perfectly frames your greenery into polaroid dimensions. Just the perfect amount of positive and negative space! I could use some of those! By designer Jung Hwa Jin.

milwaukee

I apologize for the sporadic posts as of late. I am actively searching and researching graduate programs so I have been busy doing that and have been busy trying to get my life in order. My other half is back home in Texas visiting his family for the weekend so since I had been wanting to go to Milwaukee and take Amtrak for the first time I decided to make a day trip. It was only a 90 min train ride and it was well worth it! I really enjoyed that little city. I basically just went to wander and take some photos. I had been dying to get to the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM) designed by Santiago Calatrava and Eero Saarinen and have had several friends say that it was a pretty chill/relaxed city.
So off I went on a little excursion by myself. I walked a ton! I walk and bike a ton in Chicago but usually I know where I am going unlike this place where I walked around aimlessly just taking in all the scenery, water, old buildings, and laid back lifestyle. Did I mention I had some fabulous coffee at Milwaukee staple Alterra? Well, I sure did and had a delicious turkey and goat cheese sandwich on rosemary ciabatta. Mouthwatering! I wandered through "historic" third ward and then finally up Lake Michigan to the entrance to the MAM. What a stunner! Calatrava designed it to have a moving brise soleil (sun screen/wings) and an absolutely show stopper of a lobby! I could have spent hours in the lobby. The space was moving and powerful! Anyways... enough with the jibber jabber and on with the photos. I took like 400 photos of which about 180 I liked and I will spare you a day or two and show you only a few. Let me know if you want to see more. Enjoy guys! I'll talk to y'all soon!
