ace hotel. palm springs

Seattle's Ace hotel brand has just expanded its laid-back hipster/bohemian lifestyle hotel into the California market! Below are a few images via the Ace Palm Springs website. The images definitely evoke a carefree spirit. I personally love the warmth of the fireplace and southwestern inspired motifs of the textiles.

what do you call a fish with no eyes?

fssssssh... ha! (sans the I, get it?) Now close your eyes and pretend for a moment... nevermind. Scratch that, as you wouldn't be able to read what I am about to say. Have you ever dreamed of having a pet bird and fish at the same time but lack the space to house both? Well, your dreams might just come true with this fancy little all-in-one. Voila! The gill and feather duplex/ condo with a small footprint! Let's just hope you don't own any cats with this one! Found here

pretty in mink

Fabulous commercial Interior Designer/Architect Lauren Rottet (previously with DMJM Rottet and now with her very own 7 office firm Rottet Studio) installed a pretty little stone by the name of mink marble for the hard surfaces of The Royal Bank of Scotland- Houston branch. It was love at first sight! I had never seen a striated stone like this let alone with my favorite colors in it. I spent several months at my previous firm searching for this stone when alas I found a stone rep that carried it. You may find the information for slabs of mink marble via the CoveringsEtc website. Lauren Rottet's portfolio is filled with modern corporate interiors that incorporate beautifully executed details. I wouldn't mind learning a thing or two from her! I also would love to install this in a bathroom with a free-standing tub (waterworks below) and a wash-basin (seen at the very bottom) by Alape
